I’ve moved on to the next book in my summer reading pile, Nemesis Games by James S.A. Corey (@JamesSACorey). It is actually written by two authors, neither of which is named James or Corey. This is the fifth book in the series that is the basis for the Expanse series on the SciFi channel. The series is a little bit of space opera and a little bit hard science fiction, but without going over the top with either aspect.
When they started the Expanse tv series I was excited and nervous. Would it be a good adaptation? And so far it’s been really good. True, they have had to tweak some details to make things flow right in the new format but that’s been done well. And now that I’m reading the next book I find my concept of a couple of the characters has been shifted by the series. When I “hear” the voices for Alex and Amos the accent and cadence follow the show (i.e. I now hear the actors in my head). That’s a pretty strong testament to the actors…well done.
